prayer wheel: used in tibetan buddhism and other hindu religions, prayer wheels are cylindrical drums resting on a central axis that contains rolls of paper imprinted with a mantra (usually om mani peme humg). spinning a prayer wheel with pure intention is thought to increase compassion, purify negativity, remove barriers to enlightenment and bring great benefit to all sentient beings.

zoetrope: invented in 1834 and originally called a daedalum ("wheel of the devil"), it remained unnoticed until 1867, when it was renamed the zoetrope, or "wheel of life." zoetropes use the persistence of motion principle to create an illusion of motion. like a prayer wheel, it consists of a drum supported on a central axis. sequences of pictures are placed around the inner drum and slots are cut at equal distances around the outer surface. to create an illusion of motion, the drum is spun. the zoetrope enjoyed great popularity for a time, but in 1889, modern cinema was born and the zoetrope receded once more from public focus.

bollytrope: the special effects wizards at dragondebris productions have wed the prayer wheel and the zoetrope to bring you the bollytrope. busy playa dwellers don't have time for spiritual enlightenment and a movie, so we're combining the two. bollywood will offer twenty bollytropes - each with different images. so come spin a bollytrope, send a prayer to the heavens, and watch bollywood's brightest stars weave their magic here on earth.
